Need suggestions on new gun

I am going to get my ccw and need a new hand gun to carry. I need some suggestions on what to get. I am not a huge gun guru been around them my whole life and understand them but never got into the whole why this gun is better than that one and could use all the help I can get. Whats a good reliable gun for under $500? It can be used I would rather have a good used gun than a new piece of crap. I want it to be small but not a pocket pistol and something 9mm or bigger. My wife carries a p94 40cal Rugger. It has always been a good firing gun but seems a little big to carry every where. I hear people talking about frame mounted safeties. Is there a actual difference between frame and slide or is it just personal preference? I have never noticed the difference.

You can pick a good used glock pretty cheap. Look at the 19 compact and 26 sub compact(9mm) 23 and 27(.40).

1911 single stacks are great for conceal cause they are slim and you carry them cocked and locked. CZ,Springfield XD, Glock, M&P, Sig, and any good revolver. The absolute best handgun you can carry is.............

The one that fits your hand, draws naturally, doesn't cause you to flinch, and is loaded with hollow point ammo that has the lowset chance of fail to feed or fail to fire IN THIS HANDGUN under YOUR TRIGGER PULLS. :tu::tu:

Re: Need suggestions on new gun

1911 would be my first pick, but if they are more than you are wanting to spend, a police trade in glock should be a solid choice, they may show some slide were from going in and out of the holster a lot, but most don't have many rounds through them.

Yea 1911 is a little to pricey for my blood right now. I don't care if its been carried and shows it. Never been much into the Glocks. I know there a good gun but they just don't feel right to me. The S&W M&P 9mm compact looks interesting to me. There is one close to me for $450 like new. Is this a good price or high? I have no idea. They also have the same gun in a .45 for the same price. Is there any good reason to stay with a 9mm?

1911's are not a beginners gun...they look cool and all, but the manual of arms is something you need to work at..need to shoot em and learn em before attempting to carry them concealed...

9mm is CHEAP...you can shoot 2x as much as a 45 if not more...learn more, get more trigger time, take a class or 2 with the money saved...

Load the 9mm with 124gr +P Gold Dot Speer LE ammo and it will do anything/everything a 45 will do except cheaper....

Not a beginner into guns I've been around them and shoot them my whole life. I have already taken gun safety classes but am always interested more. I already have a 9mm that I wont carry because of sentimental reasons and a .40cal that belongs to my wife I shoot on a regular basis. I am just not a gun guru. You start going through different model guns and besides make and size I cant tell you much more about them. I can't tell you if there junk or good, or what there worth its just not my cup of tea. I am just wanting to know what people have carried and liked in the price range I have before I go into the gun store so I can have a good idea of what to look for.
