Go to a gun shop that rents pistols...

Rent a few & shoot them...

Play with them, see what fits your hand, what gives you a natural point of aim...what you feel comfortable with..

9mm or 45 would be my choice, using premium handgun ammo with quality modern JHP's and the proper bullet weight is more important than caliber any more...

9mm is cheaper, you can do more shooting..and it will kill you just as dead...

Take a good hard & long look at the S&W M&P line...they are great pistols..

And then get a quality holster & belt...not a cheap holster or POS belt..& take a class..

S&W 9mm full sized M&P I got not long ago....I have a Secret City Weaponeers K25 holster on order...will be using it as my primary CCP once the holster get's here & I've got 1K rounds downrange out of the pistol...

And yes, that's why they are so thick...they are made out of cheap assed pot metal, by a company that's been sued out of exastance 2 or 3 times, changes it's name and comes back...

Besides, what good is a lifetime warranty when the company goes out of business...

Yep....several times, 9mm, 40 & 45...they all had problems feeding, jamming & were worthless unless you planed on hitting somebody with the brick...

Funny you say that. The reviews i read and the youtube videos i been watching, they have had no problems with jams or feeding. They do say its bulky, heavy, and ugly.

What does JHP stand for and what the heck is a muzzle compensator/whats it for?

If you are looking for a cheap gun, take a look at the S&W Sigma Series. Heavy ass trigger but i think it is the best gun you can have for the money.

Found a 380 sigma for $255, i think thats what im going to go with. Very compact it looks like.

Ok probably a stupid question but whats bigger a 9mm or a 380? I would like a .40 or .45 but i cant justify the price.

Don't get a sigma 380:s: The 9MM is a more powerful round than the 380, Look around for a used CZ-75 it could be had for less than $350:tu: Remember the CZ-75 has a frame mounted safety & it's accurate:tu:
