i had a hipoint .45 for the price they are they aren't bad, i didn't use it for a target shooter or anythign like that, i only packed it while hunting to "finish off" things. didn't care if it got banged up on rocks etc. and never once failed me. i don't even know if i took it out target practicing for real, shot it at this and that but never for a serious shoot and see the grouping. for accuracy my 1911 is amazing! but much more than the hi point was

Jason's got a .45, its never mis fired on him once, no issues at all. But its insanely heavy, ugly, the ergonomics sucked for me, and it groups like ****! Do yourself a favor and save up a little more.
I thought about buying a 9mm Hi-Point for my Bug-Out-Bag. Figured For a gun that will get 1000 rounds for a reliability check then put in a bag most likely never to be shot again I wanted something cheaper. After shooting Jason's I quickly dismissed that idea......

i have sold a bunch of them when i worked at a gun shop. most were bought as boat guns.
yes i have shot them. they are big and bulky, but if you want something to go bang, then it might be the gun for you. if you want something to defend you and your family look at some manufactures that have made a name for their selves. Glock, Colt, Springfield, Taurus, Beretta, S&W, Ruger, Walther, etc. yes they cost more money but are worth it in the long run, especially in the the resale area. a cheap gun will never be worth more later on down the road. more expensive guns aren't a guarantee money maker but more of your investment will be retained later on when you trade in or sell.
also the Hipoint is the only gun you can chamber a round using only one hand....

the weight of the slide, when the gun is abruptly thrust in one direction and then in another will make the slide move and chamber a round if the mag is loaded.
example, this was done repetitively with snap caps to prove it to a local gun shop owner.
with the chamber empty, and a single snap cap in the mag, take the gun, point the muzzle towards the ground. move the gun up and then down towards the ground very quickly in one quick movement.
the weight of the slide will make it move slower than the frame, causing it to slide back and chamber a round. there is a video online somewhere that demonstrate this technique step for step.
it also can double as a hammer if need be.....

if you want to Conceal Carry, then, the Hi-point is not for you. unless you wear clothes 3 sizes too big or have a few fat rolls to hide it under then you will never be able to conceal it 100%

And yes, that's why they are so thick...they are made out of cheap assed pot metal, by a company that's been sued out of exastance 2 or 3 times, changes it's name and comes back...
Besides, what good is a lifetime warranty when the company goes out of business...

Yep....several times, 9mm, 40 & 45...they all had problems feeding, jamming & were worthless unless you planed on hitting somebody with the brick...

Only up to a point...if you are shooting a 380, hit a crack head in the belly he might not even notice it for a week or 2...
the 380 is a worthless round..
