The 1911 is a great gun, to say different would be a lie. Is it the do all end all gun for everyone, no... No gun is.
When I was EST (SWAT) we carried the issue M9 Beretta...however, having trained & done some exercises with rather high speed federal guys..and they almost all used the 1911..and were using Sig's if not 1911's...have also seen lots of 1911's on deployments carried by guys who would be classified as high speed low drag...

What pistol does the guys who protect the President carry....one clue..it's not a Glock...

A quick Google provided this....do not know how accurate it is & it's a little over a year old..now it does not prove anything more than gee whiz factor..and I know a couple guys on different PD's who carry 1911's but they are not on the list (and they are Western states) any my local SO is not on the list & they can carry the 1911....

I don't hate the tupperware gun {GLOCK}, I just like the safer more accurate & better looking gun in the 1911

It's not a 1911 either.

Tacoma PD issues the Kimber Carrys as the approved sidearm.

Some are carrying 1911's.....not many, but yep they do have a presence in/around the White House... & Regan carried a 1911 while in office as the President & told the Secret Service something to the effect that he could help them if needed...

I have SIG, GLOCK, H&K, WALTHER, BROWNING, BERETTA, CZ, but nothing is as good as the 1911.

I'd be willing to bet that the secret service carries whatever the hell they feel like for a given day?

I think not, too many rules about which gun they can use

Secret Service standard issue is/was either the Sig P229 in 357 SIG or the FN Five-Seven in (obviously) 5.7x28.

As with nearly every other high level military/LE division, I would imagine a few agents probably have been tested and cleared to pack a 1911 variant, as well as other weapons....the exception, not the rule.
