You guys are funny
Each person will have a different prefference of firearm, personally I deffinately want a gun that will work, and both the Glock, and 1911 work, the big difference for me is that every Glock I have ever seen is ugly! But with 1911's even the plain ones look good, but if you're willing to spend a little more money, they can be just down-right elegant. And if you're only complaint's on a 1911 is the size/weight, then why not a LW commander or officers model? Or maybe one of the Para Hawg models, that are double stack, but in a 3" gun?

Ya'll can keep your 1911's that jam just by looking at anything resembling a CQ self defense round.
Ya'll can keep your 1911's that cost $2,000 just to sometimes shoot like a box stock P220, or a G21 with 4 boxes of decent CQ self defense cartridges and a 2-stage recoil buffer, and still exhibit random failure-to-whatever brain borks the likes of which are rivaled only by bat **** crazy women and the federal government.
Ya'll can keep your CZ-75 and....well actually that is a pretty damn good firearm right there.

Woza....this thread looks like a bunch of old lady's arguing over what is the best crocheting needle for doing a mid weight sweater....
Everybody knows the best fighting handgun in the world in the 1911, the best hand grenade in the world is the Glock that 45ACP will kill at 500 yards if ya miss by 3 inches and 50rds of 9mm to the heart don't do a thing...

Target handgun sure. If you have the money to throw away. If your going to use it in a combat situation then I'll use something that works better and does a better job without having to take it to a gunsmith to make it perform correctly in the first place.
x2 CZ makes some darn good guns. FN is another of my favorites. I'd choose either one over a true 1911 (or a Glock)
And Benjamin, trying to reason with Martin is a waste of time. I've had more enlightened conversations with a fence post.

If the 1911 sucks so bad then riddle me why so many guys who's lives depend on having a working 2ndary that never fails or a handgun for a primary depend on the 1911....
Shall we play a game...I'll bring my box stock TRP....

Sort of the same reason people state Alvin York used a '03 Springfield when he was actually issued a 1917......can't be a famous AMERICAN war hero with a bastardized BRITISH rifle, just as no self respecting red blooded free American should besmirch the 1911 legend.

Course teh Makarov is such a wonderful pistol in such a man stopping caliber...
Course the CZ is a Czech pistol and imported, so when it's banned and imported parts dry up they will make a great paperweight...
Don't forget the Sodjer boys in WWI using French machine guns that sucked goat *****...Sure at one point in history America was not the firearms leader they are now...but heck if America sucks so bad at weapon design/developement/invention/production nobody in the worl still uses the old M2 50cal MG letalone the 50 cal rifle in any military service...and the Kommies never developed a 51cal MG to mimick the American made/designed 50 cal...that's still in use...after they copied it...
