The 870 SUPER MAGNUM will shoot 3.5 inch 12 gauge shells

Nope. Don't let that bother you though. 3" is plenty. I shoot 2-3/4" 00 in my HD shotguns.

 

All the 3.5 inch 12 gauge will do is hurt your shoulder

 

2 3/4" 00 buck is PLENTY for a door-busting bad guy to be on the receiving end of. If I was able to get my 870 out of my room quick enough to use in a home invasion(still has factory 28" full choke barrel on it), the bad guy's guts would be all over my walls with 00 buck with the spead(or lack of) across the distance of my living room.

 

2.75 inch 12 gauge will get it done, no need for 3.5 inch, I can see if you were hunting geese & need the extra distance then you'll need the 3.5 inch

I looked at that a year ago, it was still full price so I made one out of PVC

Might have to order the real deal now!

 

I just put my MAVRICK 88 12 GAUGE under my bed

 

That looks like would be a piece of cake to make. I just leave mine be my door.
