Bah Humbug. No sport with guns, I'm a bowhunter.

Came home empty handed again.

I've only made it out two times this season. I had a bull talking to me within 30 yards and I couldn't see him because the fog was so damned thick. I bugled with him for almost an hour and the start little basterd stayed just outside of my sight. I did see the shape of his body a few times as he paced back and forth but not enough for a clean kill.

I'm going to my parents house in Montana next weekend. Hopefully I will bag a nice elk then.

One a these days. An elk with a bow is one of my "I'm gonna do that someday" things in life.

I think the season runs from 1 Oct - 1 Jan, I think. I shimmy up the tree all the time when I see them coming across the field behind me. I can see them from my barn and have plenty a time to get set up before they get across there.

I know in some regions rifles or shotguns are the only way to go when you have to cover long distances of open space or the thick brush. But around my neck of the woods for shotgun season all you have to do is sit on the edge of a field and when Bambi steps into the field ya shoot it. Not my thing. Although I do like my Blackpowder. Haven't used it in a few years cause I don't have anyplace to go anymore.

Somehow texting and surfing the net in a deer stand doesn't quit sound "sporting" to me.
