20mm vulcan isn't compressed much more than the .454 casull, 20mm latti, or the .50bmg it's just an *** ton of powder

So how is this sporting purpose when the 20mm Vulcan is considered a destructive device requiring $200 tax?

Simply because that 20mm hasn't gotten the BATFE blessing/pardon as a sporting rifle. It may also be because 20mm ammo can be bought already assembled with High Explosive, Incendiary and/or Armor Piercing bullets where as this dude is 100% custom. It's likely even the actual bullets are custom-turned in a lathe out of a solid copper (or gilding metal) bar.

Brian, Think your answer is correct, ammo is custom & there isn't any military ammo

Ya the 20mm be around since the world wars,if its custom it can be considerd for sporting purposes but if your like me you should be against the 200 dollar tax stamp... if the gov can have it I want one too.

The 14.9 is a 20mm Vulcan casing with a bigger head. Even if it's custom just swapping rounds doesn't make it BATFE passed. That would mean I could turn a .50/.17 and just say its for sporting purposes killing coons at 500 yards.
