You do not need a class III license to own a NFA firearm. You've just gotta pay $200 tax and a 6 month approval time. Have your III weapon registered and you cannot travel with it without written approval from the govt.

If you want to see some practical extreme range rifles check out kirby allen's wildcats that he builds. His. 338AM uses a 408 cheytec brass and he has tested it at 3000y and it shows to hold sub MOA at that range.

Sent with a Droid RAZR in one hand and 14,000 volts in the other.

Don't need either;
However, the developers have gotten the ATF's blessing to build these with a "Sporting Purposes" exemption
Sporting Purposes, same reason you don't have the $200 "tax" on shotguns.
