Aren't these the same transmission? Or am I getting something totally wrong here ha ha

In Dodge-Cummins parlance at least, A-518's were the 91.5-93 non-lock-up 3+1 speeds, the 47RH's are the 94-95 lock-up 3+1 speeds.

I do believe that the A-518's in the gasser trucks had lock-up, but not the Diesel-spec transmissions.

A-518's are also referred to as "46rh"'s.

yep hes totally correct. the 518 and 47rh are off of different generation trucks

Thank you very much! So when looking for a torque converter I need to make sure it is for the A-518 or a 46rh? Hard to find a lot of info on these dang transmissions. Can anyone get an illustration that shows what plug is what on these transmissions. I have wiring to two of these plugs that are fried, need to find out what they go to. Also need to try to find a section of wiring to replace it.

It doesn't show what sensor is what. I the one at the very rear is the speed sensor and it's not the temp sensor that comes off the tube, it's the other two.

yeah they are from different generations but they are the same damn unit the only difference is a locking converter all the inners are the same except the input shaft
gees people i built these units for years now i should know
