A518 and 47rh
Aren't these the same transmission? :humm:Or am I getting something totally wrong here ha :tttt:ha
|
yeah they are pretty much the same unit
|
No.
In Dodge-Cummins parlance at least, A-518's were the 91.5-93 non-lock-up 3+1 speeds, the 47RH's are the 94-95 lock-up 3+1 speeds. I do believe that the A-518's in the gasser trucks had lock-up, but not the Diesel-spec transmissions. A-518's are also referred to as "46rh"'s. |

Thank you very much! So when looking for a torque converter I need to make sure it is for the A-518 or a 46rh? Hard to find a lot of info on these dang transmissions. Can anyone get an illustration that shows what plug is what on these transmissions. I have wiring to two of these plugs that are fried, need to find out what they go to. Also need to try to find a section of wiring to replace it.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- What do you guys suggest for the stall on the torque converter? |
Here is the manual from the sticky.https://www.dieselbombers.com/1st-ge...on-manual.html
Hope it helps. |
It doesn't show what sensor is what. I the one at the very rear is the speed sensor and it's not the temp sensor that comes off the tube, it's the other two.
|
yeah they are from different generations but they are the same damn unit the only difference is a locking converter all the inners are the same except the input shaft
gees people i built these units for years now i should know |
