Well, I have finally started priming today! I still have other work that I need to get done, but I wanted to get a head start on the fenders and hood and get them all primed. Needless to say, there is a TON of room for improvement on my painting skills, . I have a bunch of runs, and generally sprayed the fenders too dry. But, I sprayed the underside of the hood, and then bombed it with some black, and I think I did alot better. Part of it was getting the gun setup right, then learning how to use the dang thing!

Unfortunately, the air compressor i was BORROWING from a friend because I don't have money to buy my own just took a ****. So, not sure what I am going to do now. Still don't really have money to just go out and buy a replacement for him, but I guess I gotta, right?

Well, here are some pics from throughout the day. I didn't take too many, because I was too wrapped up in the moment:

Setting up:

In the process of spraying:

Got the underside of the hood bombed with some black. Its not gorgeous, but it will do:

Plans for this week will include trying to get the rest of the body sanded, popping out the windshield and sliding rear window (preferably without breaking the rear window), and hopefully finishing the driver's side floor.

Thanks, I have had alot of guidance from one of my friends that does body work professionally. I hope I am doing it well enough. I mean, its an old truck, its not a show truck, gonna be a daily driver... so I don't feel it absolutely necessary to do everything perfectly. Plus, its my first time doing body work, .

The underside of the hood looks good. Those HVLP spray guns take a little getting used to.

Yeah, the underside looks good enough for what it is. There is alot of dirt in it, and I didn't sand it down at all, so there is some bumps and stuff in it.

Found out the air compressor sheared the shaft off the motor (not sure how I managed that), so I have to split that cost with my buddy I borrowed it from. So, thats going to back up some things, since I am still jobless and not getting worker's comp lately. Can't apply for unemployment (though I haven't asked... prolly should get on that)

Meh, nuff of the personal problems, .

Thanks!

I ordered up some goodies yesterday and today. First I got some valve springs (anyone know of a good write up on how to do them without pulling the head??), a 3200 rpm gov spring (I wanted a 4k, but wanna play it safe too), and then the adapter to bolt the HE351VE to the manifold! Once I get the adapter in, I will be picking up some aluminum tubing and an intercooler so I can get started on that while there is no front end on the truck!

And now, tonight... I just hit a major pothole though... I took the windshield out, because there was some 'surface' rust around the rim. Well, right in the center was some really flaky stuff, and I put my finger right through it. I punched it out to see how big it is, and well.... I have pics... Its about 1.5" wide, by about 1/2" tall...

Then, I painted the compressor housing on my HE351VE that I will be strapping up to the truck as soon as I get the adapter...

And, another overall progress picture of the truck!

Well, i patched most of the rust on the windshield frame yesterday, I am not entirely satisfied with how it turned out, but I think it will work just fine. I have school work to do today, so not going to get to do anything today.

Did put an Ebay bid on some seats though
