Project Rusty Revival (56k no way!)
.................................................. ...........
Got some more work done today. I got one of the wiring harnesses finished for the brake lights. I wanted it to look as OEM as possible, and I think I got dang close:

Also broke out the new black lug nuts so I could put them on the rear (brake job upcoming on the front, so why waste the time):

And, to prove how **** I really am, I covered them in body masking tape so I didn't scratch the powdercoating:

And, forgot to take the tape off and get a pic, but I will eventually.
Tonight, I have the house (and most importantly the shop) all to myself, so I think I am going to mount the headlights, and possibly get my gauge wiring sorted out, and maybe hook up my tach/shift light. IDK, I am sure I will have another small update tonight, unless I get tired.

As promised, I got a bit more work done!
I got the gauges sorted out, and started a wiring harness for them. All my gauges are Autometer, and I have Pyro, Boost (100psi) and a digital tach with shift light (pretty neat!):

This is the beginning to the power wiring harness for the gauges. Basically just a bunch of splices soldered together for the lights and power. I am going to use plug splices for each gauge, so they are fully removable.

And then, I found a spring for the VGT cylinder. I think it will work well.

Tomorrow, I will get the intercooler piping re-installed, and get the boost reference line run to the VGT cylinder. Also will work on more wiring, and maybe order up a gauge pod tonight.

this isn't fair
. are u gonna set the vgt turbo to have exhaust brake if so explain how
i want one and wonder how much more air i can get than my hx35 second i like the lug nuts just gonna be hard to keep paint on them i think

For the lug nuts, they are powdercoated, and seem like they will hold up decently well. I was worried about that myself. They are cheap enough that I could replace them every year if need be.
wat did u have to do step by step to even get that turbo on there and wats that cylinder do where did u get how did u do the measurements of where to put it? wonder if u can even tell how loud the jake will be i want it to sounds like dads jake ha ha pm all the info if u dont mind
Got a bit more work done today, already (I love being so productive!)...
Got the positive wiring harness for the gauges done. Just using an add-a-circuit to get the power, since the gauges won't draw much power:

Got the negative wiring harness for the gauges done as well:
100_4765.jpg?t=1292449418
Got all the plugs on (back of the Pyro Gauge):

And, got the gauges all tested. Amazingly, they all work. I have some blue bulbs laying around here somewhere to put in the back of the Boost and the Pyro, so it will help match the tach.

I will be out there all day, but I think I may start wet sanding the primer on the fenders.
Also, picked up the halfshaft today, but need some bolts to hook her up (and I don't know the size).
Blazier, when I confirm it works as planned, I will have a bit more info on it. Basically, I had to get an HE351VE to T3 adapter to fit the turbo on the manifold. Got that off ebay. That just bolts up, pretty simply. Next, I had to get a custom 4" downpipe, thanks to Kenny at KT Performance, I got a custom Diamond Eye downpipe that will fit the first gen manifold. Since no one makes a 4" downpipe for the first gen manifold, and alot of people use the second gen manifold (which would allow the second gen downpipe to work), I had to have it made.
The cylinder, I just started eying things up, and spent abut 4 months thinking about how to execute it all. I tacked some things, tried it out, and had to rip it all apart to change things around. I don't remember where I got the cylinder, but its a Grainger part. If I come up with some money, I am thinking about buying some HE351 VGT's and setting up a few kits to sell.
As for the exhaust brake, I don't know what it will sound like, yet. Can't really drive her yet, haha.

Not if you play your cards right. I got the turbo for $200 (not sure what current prices are), adapter was about $50-$60, downpipe WAS $120, and the pneumatic cylinder was about $20. So, I would say you could easily do it for $400... all the bracketry was made using scrap I have in the garage, so if you don't have scrap, then that would be about another $50...

Got the headlights installed and tested, tonight. they work and look good:
100_4770.jpg?t=1292457941
Also, a picture of the new halfshaft. Its a custom one with a heavier duty axle end on it... not that I needed it to be heavy duty, but the axle guy had it laying around, and gave it to me pretty cheap, and my old one was JUNK. Everything is greasable on it, which is a big perk!
100_4771.jpg?t=1292457941
Thats it for tonight. I am pretty wiped. Tomorrow... I'll be doing something, IDK what...

Haha, it doesn't take much to figure out! Though, I am very good at fabricating stuff, and its always come easy. Just copy what I did. Its just some 1" square tubing, and a washer, and some 3/4" flat!

ha ha so im gonna spen 700 bucks basically for everything i need
