Fixed as in GM fixed the overheating....no. Fixed, as in he put his own product on that he designed to fix the overheating....yes.

Many of us have fixed our trucks ('04.5-05 LLY) using TxChristopher's Rad Mod V2, to date it's the only proven solution to the LLY overheating nightmare. Other's sell products that 'help', his actually works.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Here's a post I made here a while back on this same old video:

Here's what happened, since ya'll don't know the 5 1/2 years of crap that has gone on:
The '04.5 and '05 LLY was found to overheat under certain, but within GM's specs, conditions. While many owners here on the diesel forums tried to find a cure for this (since GM was doing nothing about it) TxC took it apon himself to sue GM, not for a lemon law, but false advertising. TxC had blown a head gasket while towing, due to the overheating, GM drug their feet and claimed driver abuse. Once it all went infront of a judge, it was settled that GM would repair his truck (new engine) and garrentee it would not overheat. GM dicked around till the end of summer to get out of the 'hot weather' and gave him his truck back in late Sept or early Oct (can't remember which) '06 with a new engine and updates saying, 'try to overheat this...' TxC came up with a load well within GM weight specs, with a huge wind resistance to make it all happen. Some say puting a U-Haul on a trailer backwards was a 'setup', he tried front ways, but he couldn't get the axle weights to be correct, so he backed it on and all was well.

So he set off down I-10 from Houston headed west trying to overheat the truck while being fully within speed limits, weight,etc.... Well running the engine between 220-240*+ for 150 miles in 70-80* weather, Kerrville came up where the hills get real steep (for this area), that's where the guy in the Dodge ended up passing him while he was basicaly at full throttle trying to keep near the speed limit. The Dodge just happend to be at the right place at the right time for TxC and caught what it did on the tape. Here is TxC's own words: The "guy in the dodge" was a very elderly couple just cruising along, they had no idea that I was even chasing them. If I had to guess they were late 60's or early 70's in age, a man driving and a woman in the passenger seat. It was perfect that they came along right before the grades, and I had just put in a new tape in the camcorder too.

Once he hit the 'engine hot' and 'engine overheated' bells, then the truck went into 'limp mode', it was game, set and match. He had what he needed to go back to court and continue the lawsuit, because he indeed overheated the truck when GM said it wouldn't. The outcome was that he won. It was not easy and it didn't happen overnight. This was months in the making, a lot of time and money was spent proving his case for the outcome that he had. GM paid him a a lot of money AND he got to keep his truck.

This is now more than 5 years old. If you have an LLY and fixed it with a TxChristopher Rad Mod V2 you can pull just as hard and as strong as anything else out there.

but the guy in the video is the only guy who does make the fix for overheating lly. if there is a guy with a lly who is claiming theirs don't over heat, they just haven't used their truck to the full potential yet. probably the reason why the LLY motor was only made for the short period of time it was, then came the LBZ

and where is your awesome cummins at
working on it.. just need to graduate college first.... but by the video, obviously the cummins is the better breed. not judging by this cideo alone, but they make the same, or more power with an I6, than the v8's, not to mention the other vids on the net. this is just one more example..

I don't, but How many Duramaxes do you have to see on the side of the road on a hot day??
GM droped the ball on the LLY, if you had a full load and you needed full throtal on a 100 degree day you were screwed.

i wasnt directing that towards you but...

lb7, lbz and lmm dont have that problem. besides they weren't the first diesel out there with a problem/factory defect.

No one questions that the Cummins engine isn't very good, so you Cummins guys shouldn't be upset by the guy that's defending the Duramax. I guess GM has had some problems with the cooling system in an earlier version of their diesel, but what about my '09? I haven't done any heavy towing over Rocky Mountain passes yet, but if I do am I in for a big disappointment?

Anyway, I like the sound of my Duramax much better than the Cummins clatter.
