Default shorty stroke build

just got a 99 250 long bed reg cab, im making it a shortbed. heres how im choppin it down to a shortbed.
i will cut the wheel arch out then cut a 1.5-2 foot section above there and all the way across. and slide the back of the bed forward till i close the gap. i will need to move my axle forward about 6 ". im thinking 22,s on front and 24,s on back. kind of dropped drag truck. oh and this truck is a powerstoke. i know its a little different, but i think if done right it should turn out really cool.

heres a little progress as of yesterday, i started moving all the hangers forward. im trying to keep the factory rear springs but if i cant i will go 4 link. but after alot of measuring, i think the rear bumper will hide the rear hanger if done right. the gap in front of the tailight needs to come forward about 5 inches still.

i made some progress. i got the rest cut and had a hell of a time getting the spring hangers off. but got and moved the axle forward 5 inches and raised all my hangers and got 4 inches lower. and as you can see the springs set out behind the end of the bed, but the bumper with modified brackets covers the shackles and hangers. so it did end up a 6.5 bed, 13" shorter behind wheel and 5" shorter in front of the wheel. still got to shorten driveshaft and weld bedsides. going to get 3" lower rear springs and 3" lower i beams and 1 lower coils for the front. and still running the stock longbed tank.

that is ALOT of work

look good bud...One question though why not just bring the axle up a little farther and maybe cut out the wheel well more so that there would be no issue with trying to hide the spring hanger??

Just asking....

Looks good man a lot of guys do that with 4x4's for clearance reasons never thought of doing it to a street truck looks good though

huh well i think that just looks awkward but if you wanted to keep the long wheel base you succeeded i would have taken it out between the axle and the cab but different strokes for different folks
