mothers makes a whole lit you can buy anywhere. even wally world. its bout 20 bucks and it seems to work really well

 

i have HEARD that baking soda tooth paste works well also. I havent ever had the problem to try it though (knock on wood). I was looking at a pack of the wipes in advance auto to use on our brush truck at the fire station when a kindly older gentleman behind me in line leaned over and said to use baking soda tooth paste. According to him, it works better than anything out there. But he might just be a crazy old man

 

Baking soda probably works, in that it does have a gritty property that would help to remove the fine scratches. I just picked up a daily driver and it had haze on both head lights. I used polish with the orbital buffer and them waxed them. Cleaned them right up..

 

Here is how I do it: Wet sand with 1000 grit using EITHER side to side strokes OR up and down strokes, then 1500 grit going the opposite of the previous step. Then on to 2000 and then 2500 grits- then I polish them up with a product called Intimidator- but any polish that says it is safe for plastic should work great. I use a Mother's Power Ball for the polish. Be patient, it can take a while but looks fantastic when done.

NOTE if the 1000 grit isnt cutting it, you can start with 800 instead.

WOW, they came out great.

My daily driver has several really deep scratches. They just serve to tick me off now. I'll likely just buy new covers and start from there.
