I never knew why they were dubbed chicken lights, its a southern thing... Explain

 

I don't think it's a southern thing really, more of a trucker thing. That's just what i heard em called growin up.

 

I'm probably way off, but I assumed the term came from truckers that were afraid or "chicken" about not being safe or at least legal with marker lights.

 

u have to have alot of light on chicken trucks cause they chickens like light.

 

Come on guys, I know some of ya'll out there have got to have some of these lights on your truck or have got pics of somebody's that does

Chicken lights are put on the front of truck bumper to help the driver get as close as possible to an object before having to make a corrective turn or maneuver. The reason there called chicken lights is because truckers were/are afraid of damaging the nose of there rigs.
