you all can come over here to tenn and help with mine, all i need to do strip the excess weight off of my rock's and paint them, then figure out what to put them under, been debating over sticking them under my k-5, or maybe my hybird and the axles out from under it under the K-5, to many decessions and to little work time...

i'm surprized there are this many of us with rockwell axles layin around i mean its only 3 of us but out of 1000 that surprizes me

either of yall know where i can find some pinion brake brackets that use the toyota calipers blue torch fab used to have them but now they are gone off their site and i cant find them anywhere else

thanks scarecrow i checked them out and chucks uses the calipers that i've got but looks like they are only sellin them as part of a kit i might call them tho and see if i can get just the brackets from them

the calipers that are in the pic are the same calipers that i'm using so i bet those will work....same price as the blue torch set that i looked at a while back too

i sent him a email asking if they will work with the toyota 4 runner calipers

but now i am cutting the frame behind the cab and building an entire new frame that will be shorter and more narrow (to allow for the rear steer) and of corse stronger then the chevy frame. for the rear suspension i am using stock XJ coil springs and "grader ball" type setup except i am using a bulldog trailer hitch instead of the grader ball so basicaly i'll make a trailer tounge and weld it directly to the rear axle and then put a xmember in the frame with a 2 5/16" ball on it and hook it up like a trailer then use a trackbar to keep it in place side to side. for the front suspension i am swaping out the 52" spring for a set of 56" springs and to fit them i am adding 4" to the frame in the front and moving my front spring hangers forward 4" which with the offset centerpins in the 56" springs will shift my axle forward 4" more for a total of 5.5" forward of center. for body mod's i am building a cage for a bed and pinning my bed skins on racecar panel style and they will be "dovetailed" down to stepside width at the back and in the front i'm very seriously considering narrowing the front clip to the inside of the headlights since the axle will be so far forward and i would have to hack off so much of the fenders to clear the 44"s i'm thinkin its gonna easier to narrow it up and build an engine cage and pin the fenders on race car panel style like the rear....what do yall think?

p.s. i'm also replacing the xmember thats in those pics and i will be boxing the remainder of the frame

 

you sure did put a lot of thought in the first build up, I need to put 52's under the k5 for some extra flex, been thinking of trying to find a way to put my rocks under my play truck with buggy springs, mainly because i have a surplus of springs laying around the shop.
are you gonna go full hydraulic on the steering when the rocks go under there.

yeah i planned for 2 years on the first buildup and now i've been gathering parts for 2 years and planning for this revision, for the steering i'm doing hydro assist for now because i dont have the parts for full hydro, if it dosnt work i'll go to full but i'd rather keep the mechanical so i can drive it on the street sometimes
