Without the assistance of electricity
Gentlemen,
I have a question for all you hard-core diesel mechanics.
I am wondering what is the latest model of Ford, Dodge, and Chevy diesel truck could function without the assistance of electricity. My experience is extremely limited, however I understand (correctly I hope), that a 1993 Ford with an IDI International, coupled with a mechanical fuel pump and rear pump in tranny to support a roll-start, could work IF augmented by a choke to kill the engine.
I would like to bounce this info, as well as gain knowledge of the Dodge and Chevy.
Also, another issue....what major modifications would need to be done to a newer model diesel to, once again, operate without electricity.
Thanks in advance.
