Default ft.lbs. of torque on a Head Bolt

I'm working on a taking out a 460 ford propane engine in my shop class. It is about a 1980-83' i'm guessing. My instructor told me to take it out by losing all the head bolts a little and then take a bolt out a little bit more on each corner so i can go from corner to corner with a chain to lift it out. The thing is that i found out that i don't have to do all that work and i need to tighten some of the head bolts under the valve cover that i've already untightened and i need to know how much torque I need to put on them. If you guys have a idea it would be great. I'm really new to this kind-of stuff so it would be nice to learn.
