I would contact Hobart.....receipt or not, that is a serious safety issue they should be looking into. You might get a free replacement. If not, toss it and get a Victor, Harris, Smith, or whatever your fancy. I'm partial to Victor as the parts are found everywhere, but they are all fine units.

Any brand will work as long as the thread pitch on the torch 'handle' is the same as your hose:

The Radnor set sold through AirGas is a Victor with a different name on it, fwiw...

If you have the standard 'B' fittings the thread pitch is 9/16 x 18.

If you have the wee lil 'A' fittings the thread pitch is 3/8 x 24.

RH thread for oxygen, LH thread for acetylene.

If you have barb fittings...change them out.

Many of the small torch sets (hobby, plumber, etc) have the 'A' fittings.

Some offshore torches don't use the USA standard thread pitches and come with metric fittings among other strange local varieties.

There are adapters for most everything at your friendly local welding store, so if you find something you like and it doesn't fit your hose, have no fear.

*I think your torch has them already, but whatever way you decide to go make sure you have the blowback checks on your torch between it and each hose...just in case...cheap insurance to prevent a very bad thing.

I've always been partial to Victor myself just for the common availability of parts and that's what I'm hopin to replace it with if i can figure out what model Victor handles are compatible. Sent an email to Hobart but so far no response.

 

Any Victor handle will work.

Depending on the size of the tanks you have and the tips you want to run, some will run better than others, but they all will fit the hoses.

 

there are two different size hoses 1/4 and 3/16 i think but the fittings are the same size

 

the only thing that would be different is the torch body sizes matching different cutting heads on the 2 piece torches, other then that it will have the standard size line hookups. I used to like Harris then one day I got a burr up my bum cause my torch started acting up and bought a new 24" 70º angled head Victor torch and I have switched all my torches to Victor now, 2 6' ones and 3 4' ones and I am happy as are my helpers. The Victor Propane tips seem to hold up better then Harris Propane tips

 

So it looks like i just need to replace the whole handle and be done with it then instead of tryin to find a cutting attachment that matches up. I'd like to go back to my 3 tube gas feed if i can find a deal someplace. Seemed like they made a huge difference in cutting power and ease of adjustment.

I don't do any welding with this thing anymore it's only for cutting and heating now days. Do some metal bending fab work and the rest is all cutting. Buildin a ground ripper touse behind the tractor right now out of scrap material layin around the barn and have to cut bolt holes through 4 layers of 1/4 stock.

 

Sometimes people use bigger hose size for propane,(such as junk yards). Thats the only thing I can come up with. I'm a union boilermaker and I know the fittings are a comman standard size due to the number of manufactures out there. Hope this helps.
