I just log date, fuel station, price per gallon , total gallon, total price, mpg.
I have since the day i picked it up. Ordered it march 1, 2004. Took posession april 23, 2004. I will have to try dm's excel sheet. Also log all maintaince
Also logged all the same for my 99' 1/2 ton 4x4 360 gasser... Very dissapointing to look at the mileage!! haha I think logging is a valuable tool in the maintaince of any vehicle.

I log everything. I bought my truck in July '06, and keep track of all expenses, mileage, maintenance, and mods. This is from my fuel log:

July '06 (From July 12th)
Fuel Cost: $428.02
Miles Driven: 1605 mi
Cost per Miles Driven: $0.266
Avg. MPG: 11.4

Aug. 06
Fuel Cost: $538.62
Miles Driven: 2106 mi
Cost per Miles Driven: $0.255
Avg. MPG: 12.4

Sept. 06
Fuel Cost: $571.25
Miles Driven: 2219 mi
Cost per Miles Driven: $0.257
Avg. MPG: 11.8

Oct. 06
Fuel Cost: $581.63
Miles Driven: 2367 mi
Cost per Miles Driven: $0.245
Avg. MPG: 13.0

Well, you get the idea, I'm not gonna bore you with all of it. MPG is getting better now that I have 25+k, but towing the dyno around makes the truck thirsty. I'm actually going on a trip without it next weekend, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of mileage I get.

I log everything on my 01 from day one. I have also logged everything on my 06 from day one. We do it with all our other vehicle also. I'd like to use DM's spread sheet, but it make absolutely no since to me.

i write the date on the filter when i change the oil in my dodge cause the odometer dosent work, i quit caring along time ago about keeping track of stuff, probably would have a heart attack if i seen what ive spent for fuel and other stuff, i used to drive a total of about 500 miles a week to and from college and around home......

I keep all maintenance records with date, mileage, and any special notes or part numbers in a spiral pocket notebook. I have done this on all of my vehicles. I keep receipts, warranties, and part numbers from boxes in a separate file in the house. I check mileage at every ill up, but do not record it.
