its hard to explain the purpose of buying any sort of tools to the wife/girlfriend... everything is "pointless"

If the cost is something your concerned with. (like me when I was looking) Try to find a nice used one I found a nice dual stage 80 Gal 2 phase for $400. Works like a champ and charges up to a 185 psi.
