Default How About a New 'Service' Here on Bombers!

I was just replying to a thread about a guy getting ripped off trying to buy out of the For Sale section from another 'person' on here. And apparently he isn't the only one!!

How about forming an 'Escrow' section here on bombers!! How it would work is when a person has something for sale here then the site could be a go between. The price is agreed on in the thread or in a copy PM sent to an admin. The person buying sends the money to the admin to hold and when it arrives the person selling gets notified that the money exists and it is safe to send the merchandise. Then when the merchandise is received by the buyer the admin here 'releases' the money to the seller.
There are ways to work around most of the questions that will need to be worked out in doing all of this. It may seem like a bit of work but I think it would be worth it. To hear a fellow member here has been ripped off to the tune of a couple thousand dollars it kind of boils my blood! I would even be willing to do the leg work on this if it is decided to be something that needs to be added to the site.....

What say you all?

That makes the site liable or at least I would think it would and I don't think DB would do that....just my .02 cents.

As stated above is true however DB could also make some money for the site..... if DB posts a disclaimer about deals being solely between purchaser and seller that DB holds no responsibility for miscommunication, wrongly listed items, or damage to said items(should be covered by shipping company anyways).

The money could be held until the transaction is complete and the buyer has inspected the item(no longer than 48 hours of package delivery). Could have shipment conformation required within 48 hours of money received.

If this was worked right could be a good thing for many people purchasing items plus a little kickback for DB. Paypals 4% fee is ridiculous to me which is why i refuse to use them. But if DB charged 1% on items sold by seller a few bucks here and there would eventually add up.

I like the idea.

This was discussed on one of my audio forums, as electronics are a hot trading and buy/sell commodity.

Issues we had with it were....

1. Who pays the extra shipping?
2. How much is it worth to someone who has no gain to do it for 2 other parties?
3. What if the middle man receives something damaged, and sender claims it was good when he sent it?
4. Who is going to test it for functionality/reliability?

Just some of the ideas that we had that stopped us from doing it there.
