Default 02 F250 7.3L or 07 2500 LT1

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into getting a crew cab diesel. Need to tow about 6k lbs currently, but hope/expect do get a travel trailer in the future.

Looking at a 07 Chevy and a 02 Ford. 108k miles on the chevy and 103k miles on the Ford.

Mechanically only, which truck would you expect to be more reliable?

I'd appreciate any other feedback you might have.

Thanks

I do believe an LT1 is a gasser? And as far as mechanical they both are good but we need millage and maint records to say which one would be better.

The chevy is a diesel - old body style - lbz motor 6 speed Ali trans.
Chevy = 108k miles
Ford - 103k miles

Assume both are not modded and maintenance per manual - i guess this is a theoretical - in the perfect diesel world question

Drive them both and then decide on which one you like to drive the best...

Yup, look'em both over, test drive them, judge them according to your own preferences. The Ford would average out to approximately 10k miles per year, about national average, the Chevy would be about 20k per year, if they were highway miles that might be preferred. Or either one could have been a bunch of short trips each day, less attractive. Good luck and happy hunting
