Yes thats the problem with 6.0s, but if you do your homework you wont end up with a problem truck.

Agreed, but any truck regularly towing a 44' trailer is going to need work. With an auto Dodge, he'd probably have to step up to a built trans right off the bat. That will run about the same as bulletproofing a 6.0 if he was paying someone to do the work. A bunch more time? How long do you think it takes? You make it seem way more difficult than it is. I guess cummins is for the lazy guys who don't know how to turn wrenches??? :tttt:

And to blow absurd amounts of smoke :moon::bat:

Honestly, I think no matter what brand you decide to go with, they're all going to need some hard parts and a little lovin to safely handle that big of a trailer. Really would be nice to know the weight of that... you may find yourself needing an F450, or even step it up to medium duty like a Kodiak or something along those lines. That's a big trailer...

The trailer loaded weighs about 17,000.. I used to tow this regularly with my Dodges. Never any issue..
Also had a 53' trailer with living quarters and it weighed over 26,000 w/ the truck.. I know that because a sign lit up on the interstate to enter scales.. :scare2:

I towed this with my 06 Dodge Dually with a 4.10 and a Bully Dog.. Got 12.1 mpg from Vegas to Phoenix.. :tu:

All of these trucks are Duallies.. and I always have had Air Bags..

The Ford is a F-350 4x4 Dually.

The 07 Dodge is a Dually for $19,000 Auto..

The 04 Duramax is a Dually LB7 with auto $19,000

So I'm not illiterate to Diesels.. Just don't want to pay $22,000 for this Ford and then have to do all that work to just drive it..

If you want the 6.0 to be reliable, especially hauling that much weight, thats what it takes. Nobody here denies that.

Stay away. LB7's are notorious for going through injectors, not something you want to have to worry about.

You guys need to learn how to read, how does "spend a bunch more" equate to time ? BTW I do my own wrenching, my truck dosn't blow tons of smoke, and I wouldn't by a Cummins with an automatic to tow 44K :moon::moon:

That would be 44 foot.. (44') NOT 44K.. For you that are reading challenged..

I think the truck is nice or I would not have posed the original question..

The 6.0L maybe not so much..

The answers are what I was kind of thinking.. I don't want to pay over $20,000 for a truck, then have to pull the heads, EGR, inter cooler, etc... just to drive it..

I will be towing maybe 3,000 miles per year, and not many bad hilly drives..

Most likely going with the 07 Dodge.. :choochoo:

It's not like you HAVE to do that stuff to drive it, it's more just preventative maintenance. And like I said before, I don't think that's a good deal on that truck anyways. For that price you can find one with that stuff already done. 6.0's are tow pigs man. They love working hard like that.
