There is a one owner 97 f250 here local trade I've been eyeballing. That will prob be about where I end up. Like I said before I really like the newer Mega cabs but for some reason when I find internet reviews or YouTube vids they always come in last and I don't know why....numbers wise they seem solid...and the guys that own them swear by them

OK question 2: I've been doing some searching on here and am still confused

Biodiesel .... from what I've read on the net its a good thing but some of the tungsten I've read here make me second guess it. The process seems pretty basic if you have a basic knowlage. I get the seal/gasket issues but are there anymore disadvantages to it? Is there a brand or generation of motor that's better to run Bio on?

Also I was reading about the WVO yesterday ..is there an advantage to running something like that over the Bio or is it just something that's easier to manufacture?

I'm kinda stubborn with my vehicles. I don't buy them or stay away from them based on fuel economy. Right now I've got a 5.7L GM getting 15mpgs a 6.0Lgm getting 11 and a 5.4l ford getting 20 on a great day. I avg. 800 bucks a month is gas easy. A guy I use to work with got into it before he moved. He was brewing Bio for himself and a buddy. He claimed he didn't buy fuel for 2 years. I'm wondering if its that great? If it is why aren't more people doing it? Is it just a pain in the butt or is there more to it than I'm seeing?

If you like the 97 I would go for it. There is only a few trucks in the '90s that I would ever get. A low mileage 24v Dodge, a 96-98 12v Dodge, or a 94-97 F250/350. Now since you want the bigger cab I would go with the Ford. Im not sure what reviews you are looking at for your reviews but from what I have ever seen the Mega Cab looses because of style points. The interior is pretty plain and the outside looked the same, except for some small changes, from 03-08. Also, the autos in the Dodges in the time frame werent the greatest. The ones I have been in seem to hunt for the gear they want. Thats why I want a mega cab with a 6 spd For your WVO and bio fuel questions, there is a thread section just for that. Alternative fuels. All I really know is that with bio, your fuel system has to be extremely clean before you start running it because if there is any bacteria in the system, the bio with make it grow alot faster. I would recommend keeping this thread just about which truck then start a new thread in the fuel section.

Your point? Because we havent owned one, we cant talk about its issues? No one is "hating". Hating usually means someone is jealous of what you have. Im sorry if you limit your knowledge of diesels to what you have in your driveway. Some people rely on their knowledge of diesels to put food on their table and it pays to know more than just what you drive.

If you do all the work yourself and you do the work BEFORE you lose a head gasket. It doesnt matter how you drive it. Ive seen them blow a head gasket completely stock and modified. The earlier EGR systems had a problem with clogging the turbo, which created high drive pressure, which caused blown head gaskets. Not every 6.0 had this problem and after the first year they had it sorted but enough made it out to the world to cause the diesel community to cringe when someone talks about them.

Good for you. You want a cookie? There is a reason Ford spent over $15 million and bought back 750 trucks that were not road worthy because of the 6.0. Plus the millions in warranty costs and everything else. Is every 6.0 gonna have this problem? No. Is 50%? No. Is 25% No. Around 10%-15% will but when you have a few million engines out there, still a good amount with issues.
