let the brain pickin begin
OK so I'm looking for a 3/4 to 1ton. Don't have a real preferance between ford dodge or chebby. Send like internet reviews are all over the place. SOOOO at the risk of starting a fight (not what I'm going for) why did you choose your rig as opposed to another one. I'm a ford guy love the dodge megacabs might have a good lead on a duramax. So any thing to look for or stay away from is appreciated. I was looking at a 93 Chevy 6,5 Turbo. I can't find anything good about them
We will start here....keep in mind my budget is low and I'm looking to pay cash. So what should I go for/stay away from |
You're opening Pandora's Box. :scare2: What are you looking for? Lots of room? Auto or manual? You want to make alot of HP or just want a daily driver? Whats your budget? We can give better opinions and answers if you can get a little bit more specific. :c:

there are countless threads on this... do some research.

I did a little searching but I'm on an android at work...I've got several questions this is just where um starting
Nit real worried about having a hopped up 11 sec truck. I just need/want a 4 wheel drive 4 door mainly tow/haul rig for a 9k lb trailer ...maybe bigger. Won't be a DD but will be driven a lot. Maybe instead of what's better how bout what to stay away from? I really don't know much about these |
since everyone is gana say it, even though most have never owned one... stay away from the 6.0s, even though mine has 179,xxx and has been pulling hard its whole life...
|
Any reason why? Something prone to being a trouble maker with them?
|
they had emission control equipment on them, delete that and they are fine... atleast mine has been...

You say you don't have much money but you want 4 wheel drive and a 4 door. I would start by looking at a 94 to 97 Ford F-250/350 Good soid trucks, F350 would be my first choise because it has a solid front axil. The Dodge Ram with the cummins I think is a better all around truck but no 4 door. The 6.5 chevy I personaly wouldnl't even consider, not enough power and a harder starting truck with over all lower mpg's. |
^^^how many 6.0s have you owned???
|
my $0.02 here....

We will start here....keep in mind my budget is low and I'm looking to pay cash. So what should I go for/stay away from I did look at the other makers during every trade I have made over the last 15 years. I kept coming back to a GM truck for what I said above. I use mine a lot and I wanted a cab that I liked and was comfortable in. The Dmax and Allison were a bonus. One more thing was that I had a dealer that was great to work with. They dealt fairly and provided great service when I needed it. What you should go for is the truck that you can afford and the truck that you like to drive and does the job for you. A truck is a tool. Buy the best one you can afford and then take care of it. With every truck there will be maintenance costs and issues that come up. Deal with it. Owning a diesel isn't as cheap as a gas engine but if you want to keep the truck and really use the truck, it's the way to go. Get a nice one and live with it. My preferences really don't mean much to you. Look at the past uses of the truck and any miantenance history on it. |
