From what you've said about your prospective it'd be ford hands down, I'm not willing to sacrifice comfort for a motor especially since I do have long droves to the lake 4+ hours

one of the reasons i drive cummins is because i can get them repaired here in wv at a fair price. brian vannest shop knows every bolt in them. they only work on dodge

Thats a good point. I'll most likely go with the ford, because its going to be my dd, except for the occasional odd job and towing my quads around

Yeah thats one reason im still strongly leaning toward a cummins. I plan to do most of the modifications myself. I live in charleston.

What are you HP/TQ goals out of the vehicle, or just stock?

Im not looking really for anything over 500. Maybe 400-450

after owning a 1997 powerstroke i would lean towards the 24v cummins. The 24v is a much easier engine to work on and parts are a lot cheaper along with a greater power potential.

But in all honesty, I love the 7.3, but if you want to wrench (easily) go with the straight six. Its a trade off either way. More power potential and easier wrenching, or an all around better truck.
