Hmm. More info to help. Or make things more difficult. Depending on how you look at it. Haha. Speed is dangerous. It's eats up my fuel.

I usually haul around people, have my 6mo. olds car seat, my daughter who is 11, and my brother who is about 6'2 or so in the back extended cab and nobody complains about being cramped my dodge was another story...

I would get a Duramax for what you will be using it for. Once you fix the ifs with tie rod sleeves you should be good to go. I have personally seen 6 different dodges with melted pistons from bad injectors. You also have to cope with the fan clutch wiring getting chopped up in the fan from time to time, crappy stock lift pumps, dash cracks, death wobble, old school design 4 spd auto. I have more but I'll stop. I'm sure the Duramax has its share of problems but I never personally heard anybody have problems with them like they do with the CR's.

That's reassuring...

My family is jinxed when it comes to fords. Every ford that my dad, grandpa, uncle and myself has owned has had issues. Don't really want to continue that trend anymore...

Hmm. Definitely things to keep in mind. Obviously there could be issues on either end.

you realize the peak torque rpm between cummins and dmax depending on year 1600rpm for both right? but the newer dmax bumped up to 1800rpm.. I highly doubt you will notice that difference in the long run.

take a look at torque curves, they're almost identical, the dmax is just shifted about 200rpm higher and the powerstroke is all over the place
