yeah and last time i checked this site was called dieselbombers.com and not dieselbuyemandleaveemstock.com, valid point, but i'd say 90% of the time people on this site wanna modify the powertrain one way or another to get more power out of them

When I bought my truck on 10/23/2008 I read my manuel & it said ULSD or 5% bio-diesel & O N L Y MOTORCRAFT additive & it even had a stock number. MUST drain the water out of the fuel every month & change the two fuel filter before 20,000 miles

they always say in manuals they don't want you using anything, but their additive, they don't make money off of Howe's or Powerservice, and the fuel filters seem like that's a pretty standard interval, even pretty long in some people's opinions, and you can bet that the only time ULSD is required is with emissions stuff intact, i bet LSD would run just fine if the particulate filter crap fell off

My truck has 34,785 miles, I'm pretty sure when I'm near 100,000 miles the DPF will drop off

if I had a new truck I would deffinentally bomb it, Im waiting for the warrenty to run out on my buddy's 6.7.

And I joined this site to disscuss the mechanics and problems with trucks, I am sure there are people who joined just to discuss bombs, and thats cool, too. Remember, we are all in the same boat, and we dont drive the damn ricers.

that is a valid point also. and for the OP, a 7.3 would most likely not be the best truck for him, since he wants one for performance. he would probably be more suited for a Dmax, commonrail 5.9, or a newer powerstroke.

in the end, every 7.3 we've had served its purpose well. they pulled anything we wanted them to, got good mileage, and were 100% problem-free. I think they're a great engine for anyone who isnt wanting a ton of power, but just needs a truck to be a truck. One of my uncles had a 1st gen 12v, had nothing but trouble out of the truck, not the engine, but everything else. Had it for a few years, and in 96 got rid of it and bought a 7.3. Drives it every day, pulls trailers all the time, over 300k miles and not a problem. Just routine maintenance, and still runs flawlessly.

And I'm not knocking diesel performance, I've got big plans (~700hp) for my Ford, and every diesel I own will have something do to it, but thats simply not what a majority of diesel truck owners want. At least around here, the number of stock diesels greatly outnumber the percentage of modified diesels.

I heard they are comin out with a 6 speed as the only tranny option, (auto, not manual)
and I got a stock truck too, dont worry

ahh sorry just did my homework and discovered that its a 6 speed torqshift. I knew they always were six speeds (advertised as five) but when I saw this one was advertised as six I thought it was a whole different transmission
