need help with choosing a truck!
they came with a maximum of 250hp during their production, not even close to the 305-325 offered by the common rail cummins from 03- early 07, and the Duramax was at 360 in 06, which is 110hp more than the 7.3 that's alot more horse out of a stock engine, sure it's newer, but the 7.3 is kinda like a honda or toyota in the respect it didn't make enough power to hurt itself
ehh I see what your gettin at. Yes, I am a diehard 7.3 fan, but Im not one of those anoyying douches that just shout out HEY IDIOTS 7.3 FOR LIFE and badmouth other engines.
I dont pull anything over 25,000, so 250 (275 for manuals actually) is fine for me. I am sure there are people out there who need more, but few.
And watch what you say, compairing ANY diesel to a honda. "thems fightin words
"

I don't mind the 6.4 after you take the emissions crap off them, they are not that fuel sensitive gunman, i talked to the ford dealership, they didn't want you running any additives in pretty much just 2008 because of the sulfur regulations and leftover stock on shelves, the engines weren't designed to run on 500ppm fuel which was pre 2007.5 but now pretty much every additive i've seen conforms to the 15ppm ultra low sulfur rules
, yeah stock is great in some applications, but alot of fleet drivers and stuff have virtually no idea what all the emissions equipment is and how that affects the way they should drive or habits that need to be changed due to the equipment
yeah, I mean, Im not much in the modding world, everything I drive and work on is stock, and I just like the 7.3 best cause I never see them in the shop, right next to 7.3 is the 12v, god I love those, then the 5.9 common rail (not a huge vp44 fan as the HIGH risk of a fuel issue :/)
But not in front of a Torqshift. I never said they didnt have a bulletproof diesel, I just said they didnt put one in front of a Torqshift. Until maybe the 6.7
Time will tell
how many diesel owners actually build up there engines for racing or power? probably a small percentage when all diesel pickups sold are taken into account. However much we like the power diesels can put out with upgrades, diesels basic purpose is to be driven and to pull and haul. And I think the 7.3 does that very well. No it does take too much money to build a lot of power in one, but I can guarantee that my pawpaw or any other member of my family who own 7.3's would rather have a stock, reliable truck, that one that makes tons of power, but you have to worry about breaking down

Time will tell

the 7.3 is far from bulletproof, there isn't a bullet proof engine out there, especially not an international 7.3, until the 6.4 internationals were way expensive to build up to anywhere near the levels you could achieve with a Cummins or Duramax for less than 1/2 the investment
