Default new cummins owner...

hello!
i just bought a 2007 dodge cummins 6.7. never owned a diesel before.. i luv love LOVE the truck,,,however,,,,,,i'm having a lot of problems with the warning lights coming on!! it has died on me a few times, and had to be towed!! it seemed as if the alternator wasn't working, took it to the nearest dealership (which ended up not being a dodge dealership, but i live in a tiny town and they used to sell dodges,,,) anyway, they ended up just clearing the codes, resetting the gauges and telling me it was running fine! now they keep coming on. it is stressing me out so bad!! i have only had this truck for about 6 weeks1! (oh yeah.....I forgot to mention that it has already been in the shop for a new transmission!!........ummm yeah...)

Does anyone have an idea here? a friend of mine tells me it could be a bad battery which is screwing up the computer and causing the lights to keep coming up....

HELP!!!

well you need to get a scanner and check for codes...that could tell alot. fill out your signature so we will have more info about the truck. how did it just die? what were the symptoms before it died. need to know if its stock or if there are any mods?

OK...sorry i accidentally posted this in the wrong section!

oh crap it's such a long story! i don't know what all i need to tell you about the truck, as far as engine details, etc. i'll get the book and look! they put it on the scanner and didn't tell me what codes were coming up. I thought it was the alternator so maybe they just checked that and it was good so they erased the codes.
right now the engine light is on, the electronic throttle control light is coming on, and the check gauges light comes on and goes off after a bit, although that one stayed on when it died on the hwy.... OH, also last night would automatically shift down into 4th gear when the gauges came on, as if the tow haul was on, but i couldn't make it shift out manually. had to kill it, and reset the codes to get it back to normal. of course that didn't work for long.

Its just that you would get more reponses, and they would be made by people whom know what they are talking about regarding your 6.7cummins
