Well you cant exactly run one on gas but they will run on it and no I'm not suggesting anyone do it. You would have had to been there and understood how junkie this truck was. But I could fill a entire web page with stories of this truck I mean really it was a adventure.
But back to the blazer. The rig should be fine. This is exactly where the small Detroit's do good. There a small light weight diesel that is perfect for a 3/4 ton and under truck. The 6.2 is a slug but put a turbo on it which isn't bad of a 6.5 and it will run a lot better. They are a semi sought after rig but personally I would not give $3200 for it but that may be because I am cheap. I would feel more comfortable around $2000 but it is probably worth $3200 I'm just cheap.

It ain't a small Detroit. I put alot of miles on a real Detroit Deisel engine. This one ain't that. Not sure what it was derived from or if if it was a derived from anything but I don't think it was a Detroit. It is however a fairly reliable and cheap set up. Yo ain't gonna get much power out of it but it should do alright if you're not towing with it. The ones in the Army trucks were good except for the fact they were geared way to low. If you ever drove a 1008 or that series truck on the highway, you kno what I mean.

It was built by a GM division. That was Detroit Diesel. What I was referring to was that it isn't a two stroke design like all of the other Detroit Diesels used in the big trucks at about that time. Those were 53, 71 and 92 series engines. Detroits now are all four stroke engines and have been since the Series 60 came out and the others were phased out due to emissions regualtions. That includes the Series 50 and all engines designed for commercial truck applications. The 6.2 is a slug but a steady slug. It's an early design engine that came about primarily for fuel mileage. It didn't do bad in most cases.

I was with 1/106th AVN Reg.
Guard Aviation from Illinois. We had the good fortune to travel to many places in the world and participate in a lot of good missions. I was full time doing that. It was a good deal to be in aviation. We were a high priority unit so we had decent equipment and were called more than a normal amount over the years. All that and we got to fly too. I miss being in the military but I now work with the military. Same job as before, just a different uniform and now I'm on BAF.

Ah gotcha. I dont miss the Army . Not gonna lie. Well I do, there's a lot I miss. But I'll tell you what, I sure appreciate my freedom. No more 120 hour work weeks, no more yelling at soldiers and being yelled at, no more early mornings unless I'm on my boat out fishing Lake Erie, and no more asking to go to the bathroom. I love it. But I'll always have a place in my heart for the Eighty Deuce.
