I'll take a Duramax over a Cummins any day of the week because of the truck that surrounds the duramax and the transmission that is behind the engine, however i have a cummins which i love but as far as your 12v running circles around his duramax, I highly doubt that, there's a reason everyone that has low drag numbers run the duramax, and there is a reason the guys pulling sleds run the cummins it's all about the torque, not saying there's not fast cummins' out there or good pulling duramax's but they each seem to have there niche

Thats pretty darn good with 40" tires. Thats right on par with what my LLY would get with 32" tires. For some reason the LMM's didnt get the mileage that the other DMax's did but driving 85 will certainly kill it quick. When I would make my drives from San Antonio to Midland/Odessa my mileage would drop to about 12mpg because the speed limit on that stretch of I-10 is 80mph and I would run 85.

But lets set the record straight for the OP. If you want a Duramax then by all means get educated on them and pick the one you want. I'm kinda partial to them myself. BUT...Ford and Dodge make great trucks as well so you wont go wrong in picking a modern 3/4 or 1 ton TD truck. All of them are capable to do what you want them to do. Each one has its own quirks and characteristics. Just gotta figure out which one suits you.

I have old duramax motors on my pumpjacks at the farm that have enough hors to equal a million miles, they are not as new as some think. I just sold my 02 cummins H.o for a 2004.5 duramax. The duramax is faster, smother, and by far comfortable. My cummins had better low end pull but after that its all d max. I have several buddys with lly d maxs and never had a heat issue.

Ya pretty much

Truth be told, they are all great choices. If it were a damn titan or tundra or pathfinder or some foo foo then I'd be more unruly. But you really cant go terribly wrong with any of the Big Three
