Default Cummins 3500 or Chevrolet 3500 Z71?? (non duallys)

Okay so I have come down to either a new or used Dodge Ram 3500 Cummens Diesel or a new or used Chevrolet 3500 Z71 Diesel. Im going to DB either one. It just comes down to the question which is better, more reliable, tuff enough to drive me to work and rip a house of its foundation I am very very fond of the bench seat in the front, but im deciding weather i want crew cab or single cab. I dont plan on driving a lota people but u never kno in the future. If used what year is safe. For dodge i heard 01 to 07 is safe if we maintained. Chev i have no idea...
Again
Dodge im told Great engine bad body

Chevrolet apparently both are good but bolts come loose?? explain please haha..

After some research it seems chevrolet 3500 Z71 seems to beat dodge cummens, buttttt id like to hear some of the cummens guys and gals first as well as chevrolet owners. I want this to be the one so if yall can help me out id greatly appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely love my 01 dodge. I had a little trouble with the lift pump which killed the Injector pump but now that I have a Fass lp and new ip I love the truck. As far as I am concerned chevy dodge and ford all have their strengths and weaknesses. I have allways been a dodge man so I vote Cummins. hope this helps ya

I have both, neither one is better than the other. Buy the one that you like better or is cheaper if you can't decide.

let me ask you this have you ever had a extended/crew cab if so u will not want to go back to a single cab. been there before my vote is obviously for the dodge cummins tough *** motor and tough trucks all around. ive seen all of the trucks rust out so it will come down to personal preference. if you are going with the cummins get an 03 and up with the common rail. easier to work on all the components. my 99 needs rotors and i gotta tear the whole damn axle apart but the new ones come apart much easier. o that and the straight axle of dodge in my book is much better then the ifs. sorry for the long post but wanted to give you as much input as i could cause i been where ur at. hope i helped u a little bit.

Default thanks

beleive me the more info the beta. Dodge has been at the top of my list. Sadly i have a 150 Ford Crewcab XLT GASSSSSSSS. I figure it may be cheeper for a single cab but in the long run i may pay the price whn with friends. So you beleive Cummens beat duramax? My uncles got the z71 3500 09 up in mass. one i saw it it became 2nd on my list. But as u say it all comes down to prefernce and $$. My goal is to DB the crap outa my truck and from wht ive seen Dodges seem to preform better and handle it alot better? im into off roading pull ripping **** outa the ground. so i figured to go with an automatic Deisel. Have any other pointers on y go dodge?? I appreciate your help !!!

if you are gonna offroad the dodge stock sits up quit a bit higher than the chevy, and if you are gonna pull hands down cummins. I have saiid this a couple times on here but my buddy traded off his old f-350 for a new duramax and he now wishes he would have bought the dodge. For two main reasons he said the chevy drops about 5" when hooked to a trailer and the mpg pulling sucks too. He only bought the chevy because his wife did not like the ride of the dodge. I like my trucks to ride like a truck and perform like one. I used to be a die hard chevy guy then i got introduced to dodge and i will never go back to chevy. My dad was the same way too and he has two trucks both hooked to trailers all the time and he now owns dodges and said he will never go back to chevy or gmc. Bottom line is what ever fits your needs, wallet, and likes is what you should get.Don't settle for anything either shop around and get what YOU want.

The Newer chevy 3500 beats the dodge in everything from 50 more hp and over 200lbs of torque, it gets way better gas mileage, it stops faster from 70 mph, it takes less feet to make a u turn. Car an driver gives it truck of the year for 2012, ford got 2nd, and dodge could not compete

^^^ that

Chevy responds best to aftermarket programmers, EFI live tune will put most dmaxes at or close to 500hp without needing any other mods, granted the transmission wont handle it, but most stock transmissions in all 3 fail under increased loads.

cummins EFI live is still fairly new, give it time and it will be good too.

yes the chevy's sag, but thats why they have a rake like they do, it levels out. and they still ride nice even if you drop enough in to to have the bumper dragging

IFS, relatively cheap and easy to beef up, plenty of high power racers and pullers NOT scattering the weak horrible IFS guess theyre special? never had a problem with mine.

personal preference, i've owned various years of the big 3 diesels, and the duramax is by far my favorite, and they hold value longer for a reason

.
