Yep, I'm sure there are 500K and 800K PowerStrokes out there. But I'd almost bet there are 100 500K Cummins trucks to every 1 500K PowerStroke. Doesn't mean the 'Stroker is a bad engine, it just isn't as reliable or as long lasting as a Cummins. No denying that, even 'Stroker guys will admit it. Just like any Cummins guy will admit a properly tuned 6.0 or 6.4 'Stroker will give a lot of Cummins' a run for their money.

My brother just bought a rust free, '97 Ram 3500. 5spd, dually, 4wd with 175K on it for around 7.5K. They aren't really hard to find, but they probably won't be in state. But if a clean truck comes up, out of state, I see no reason not to go for it.

there is no denying that the cummins motor is awesome and will last for a good long time. The only major issue with the cummins is the truck its in. the dodge trucks if not babied or extremely well taken care of don't hold up very well.

Personally the best truck for you is the one you can afford and that makes you happy.

Every time someone brings up these questions we all start arguing and it always comes down to just find that truck that makes you drool and buy it you wont regret it.

Not in my experience, or my dads, or brothers (both of them) or Grandpa, or Uncle, or many other people I know.

They hold up just as well as a Ford or Chevy, in my and many others experience. Sorry, I don't buy that argument. You can say a Ford or Chevy rides better, or has a better interior, as that is an opinion. However, the fact is the Dodge truck does hold up, otherwise there would be no high mileage Dodge trucks. I guess I'm missing something? Maybe everyone I know just got a good batch of every different generation of Dodge trucks?

I look at it this way. The Dodge body is Ford's 6.0.

A lot of people complain and say how terrible Ford's 6.0 engine was, and they all has problems, with this, that or whatever. Yep, some of them had problems, and they may have been a more problematic engine than others, but many, many others have had great, reliable, trouble free service from their 6.0 Ford's.

The Dodge body, while some have problems with, and maybe more than the other brands, (I still think that is a stretch), most people have had good reliable service with them. I know in the salt filled Ky area, no truck is safe, but all of ours has have held up just fine. Although, mine being a 2wd, I don't drive when it snows.

I hope I didn't come off as a jerk in my previous posts, I wasn't trying to, I was just stating my personal experiences.

What it all comes down to is what you like. If you get a Ford, Dodge or Chevy, they will take care of you, provided you take care of them. Drive what you like, you're the one that's going to be driving it for years to come, not us.

well put I am sorry if it came off as bashing or putting any brand down or being a jerk I was just giving my experiences with the different brands I have owned all 3 and still own a dodge and ford personally you can't go wrong with any of the big 3 they are all great trucks have their ups and downs but great trucks.

I will always fall back on the best way I was told to pick out of them find the one that you like and never look back
