Default Can I get a reliable diesel under 10k?

I was hoping to get some research done and buy a diesel as a weekend driver/hauler. I am going to be buying a vehicle in the next 30 days which changes things up. So I need to figure out if I should get a diesel now or buy a normal gas car and save more than 10k for a diesel.

All I want is a manual with good reliability. Upgrades, if any, would be minor and probably only include gauges and an exhaust.

Any advice on if this is a good idea, and which year truck to look for? Mileage? Towing won't be crazy heavy and I'm not looking to invest into making this particular diesel fast at all. That would have to be done to a second truck .

Id recommend a 94-98.5 12v. has to be 5spd if you dont want to deal with getting a good built trans. they are very reliable runners but thats not to say they dont have there weak links. you will want a good clutch, be prepared to re do the entire front end, CAD on the 4x4 sucks. but with minimal wrenching they are great.
