2002 7.3 vs 2002 6.0
Hi,
I have the opportunity to purchase a 2002 Excursion 7.3 with 147,000 miles or a 2002 6.0 with 198,000. Both are the same price, which would be the better value? The 7.3 doesn't seem to have had the same attention to detail as the 6.0. Neither has an extensive towing history. The 6.0 has a nicer interior, by that I mean it looks as though it was better cared for even though it has more miles. Both have recently been shod with new tires. What is the most important thing to look for in either vehicle.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I had a 2002 f250 crew cab with the 7.3L psd , had the truck for 11.5 years. The 6.0 did not come out until 2003. I would stay as far away from the 6.0 as you can!! Ton of bad 6.0! Just my 2 cents.
Loghomeman,
Thanks for the advice. I guess I should have qualified my description more about the two vehicles. The 2003 6.0 had a new crate motor in 2008 with all the (to that date) modifications to take care of the head studs, & EGR problems. Even though the truck has 198,000 on the chassis there is only 75,000 on the current power plant. I know the 7.3 is pretty much indestructible. I have plenty of experience as the Capt. in charge of maintenance for a fleet of ambulances in the Fire Dept. Never had an engine related issue with the 7.3s. They received some pretty abusive treatment, but kept on running. We never did have vehicles with the 6.0. My question revolves around the fuel consumption? Supposedly, the 6.0 gets significantly better mileage and has more power than the 7.3 in their stock configurations. I guess that is the question I need answered. I appreciate your two cents.
