Dodge vs 7.3L Powerstroke
This is my first post so please don't bash me since I know this has been discussed a million times and I wasn't sure where to post this.
I have a chance to buy a 99 7.3 CCSB 4X4 off of a relative that has 137k miles on the truck but only 15k miles on a brand new long-block and BTS auto for 10k.
I am partial to the cummins and think its a better motor and I really prefer stick to auto but wondered if you guys thought it would be foolish to pass up such a nice super duty to look for a Dodge.
I would be using the truck to tow an 8k enclosed trailer all over the western U.S and plan on this being the last truck I ever buy so longevity is a huge priority for me.
I know everyone says the Ford is the better truck but Dodge the better motor. I realize that if I own this truck for 30+ years I will have to replace lots of parts which is ok with me.
What do you guys think?

why does everyone that ownes a ford dog on dodge? We have a 96 12 valve sitting in the driveway with 580k miles on it, dont even leak any fluid all stock, anyone have a powerstroke like that? Ford is one of the worst for body rust, top 2 in my opinion, i seen a 2006 sittin on the car lot in Northern ky with rusted out cab and rockers. Just so all you ford owners are aware if you are not already, powerstrokers are extremly notorious for bad cam sensors, 6.0s headbolts are junk, egr gets stuck, oil cooler failures, injection control pressure failures, sticking injectors, 6.0s turbo failures, plug leaks, head gasket failure, axle seizes, etc etc,

Do what I'm gonna do, buy a Super Duty chassis of your choice that has a gas motor, (Excursion, F-250, F-350 etc) they can be had for CHEAP, sometimes up to 1/4, or less, of what the same vehicle with a Diesel Engine. Then find an old beater Dodge that the front end is about to fall out from under or has a bad trans and put the cummins motor in it. I am probably going to part out my 1-ton Dodge and use it to re-power my V-10 Excursion.
