Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8 Turbo Diesel Intercooler Fitting
Hi. I have a 1990 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8 turbo diesel 4d65 with a td04-09b turbo. I just fitted a front mounted intercooler & the boost pressure was reduced to 7 psi from 9 psi. Is this normal or is there something wrong? I had fitted a boost controller to turn the boost up to 10 psi. Also tested the piping for leaks and everything was ok with no leaks. I Also noticed more whistle coming from the cone filter. Is this normal?
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
Its it normal sometimes you do loose boost from addind an intercooler since it it restrictive. But the cooling benefits are much better.
I bet you also have your boost tap on the cool side (engine side) of the intercooler too.

Because of the fitting of the intercooler, I changed the intake manifold to the non turbo intake manifold which is much bigger than the turbo manifold. I did this because the non turbo intake manifold has a bigger inlet hole (60mm) and the turbo manifold was (40mm) Is this good?
Thanks
Thanks
