Need advice on a small, powerful FWD diesel setup
I'm working on the design of a 2F1R 3wheel vehicle and I'd like to use a small, fairly powerful diesel setup as the primary drive mechanism. I don't know alot about diesel setups and I'd welcome suggestions and recommendations to use. I'm trying to design a 2 seat side-by-side with a small (3') storage/package area behind the seats. The body will be fiberglass laid over carved foam to define the shape and provide the mounting for the drive train. An alternative would be to mount the engine in the rear and drive the rear wheel through either a short driveshaft or a motorcycle clutch, transmission and chain drive.

Re: box truck diesel engine...
That would be a perfect size. I don't know if you've seen a Riley TriMagnum or XR3, but I want to design something along those lines but with FWD (or AWD) with a front engined design. I like the XR3, but there is really no room to carry anything except a passenger. I'd like to have enough "cargo" space to take my German shepherd and some camping/hunting gear. Your idea is a really good one. Thanks.

What is a mine buggy, exactly... you mean one of these...

Seriously, I did a search on both "mine buggy" and "coal mine buggy" and I came up dry... except for lots of dune buggies of various sizes.
