FYI Kent Kroker who started and owns KORE is a ex seal and his co pilot/other driver is a marine pilot bet you could call him and get the low down on everything needed to finish Baja they have been racing it for a few years now and im sure a good source of info.

i would use the 2003 and truss both axles good, do a Free spin kit with all 35 spline axles, front locker, gears and drive flanges, get a set of 37 spline axles and a spool (Tony Burkhardt) for the rear axle and gears, then over build everything and buy atleast 2 spares of everything.........
That is awesome you are making the dream come true. Someday I too want to race the Baja 1000, but that is way down the road. I am heading to Iraq next month. There sure are alot of people in the Military here.
