Well, I took the plunge and brazed the EGR port on my exhaust manifold shut. I just didn't like the way the block off plate attached. I'm sure it would've been fine and people without gas setups have used it without problems, but I can't just let anything be, so I read up on brazing and just took a shot. It was nerve racking as I was pretty concerned about cracking the manifold. I heated it up in my BBQ, the wife was thrilled, put it in the vise, continued evenly heating, then went to town. I think it turned out well. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
