A good friend of mine just picked up a '03 CCSB Dmax. All stock except for lift, wheels, and tires. He has been asking me what would be the best tuning for it. I told him hands down EFI live but hes a little scared of how complex it is. He wants a plug-in-play tuner. I told him either Edge, Banks 6 Gun, or PPE Excelarator. Im helping him pick what exhaust and intake and a tuner is the next thing on his list. What would you guys recommend? 125K miles and will be a DD with very little towing.

 

If you can't convince him to do EFI live, I would tell him do his own research and work with whatever makes him comfortable.

 

Hes never owned a diesel before and Im just helping him along. Cant expect someone to research something they know nothing about.

If he wants something simple Edge Juice works great! I have a few friends who run it and they love it. If he gets bored he can always get the Hot unlock

 

just have him but an efi live tuned ecm

 

Thats an option as well. DSP5 switch would work great!

why cant he just purchase an EFI Live tune and load it, no need to learn how to program first. many places will give one or two tunes with the purchase of EFI Live.

the LB7 duramax is the easiest of them to tune, he could load the purchased one, then get more familiar with it and stat making changes from there

really EFI Live is your best bang for your buck
