smoke switch
hahahah i just had to read this, it caught my attention, id also like to set some ppl in this thread straight, on an LB7 you can not just wire in a smoke switch, our turbos are single vane turbo's, that thread posted above is for LLY and LBZ smoke switchs, if you wire it in like that shows it will throw you engine into limp, meaning it will do no more then 2000rpms and run like crap
I have an 02 lb7 and tried a "smoke switch" and nothing happened, but with some research I have found it will NOT work on the lb7, If you do it right you will lose all power but get no smoke.
A smoke switch is only going to get you and the diesel industry a bad name. Smoke is a sign of an inefficient running truck. Why not burn all the fuel and turn it into power. I would rather them see the smoke pouring off my tires than belching out the exhaust pipe.

This guy clams to have a working smoke switch. i emailed him to see if he can give me a step by step of how he did it. i think his set up only works on LLY's and up but im sure if you get the directions on how to do it then some one on here with alittle electrical no how than me could figure it out

Thanks
I'm sure you can. you would just need some way to control how much air enters the engine. i know with the LLY's and up they have a varible geometry turbo (VGT) vs the lb7 which doesnt have a VGT. so my guess is if you could get a motor oporated valve or something that you could put in the out flow intercooler line, (it would need a relief valve on it) but i could see it working that way. it would need to be caliberated so that if you want 50% boost then the valve would only close 50% or what ever %age you would like. i see it being time consuming but when your done it would give you alot of control over your airflow and smoke out put, I AM GOING TO MAKE ONE THING CLEAR, SMOKE IS FUN BUT DON'T BE ANNOYING. LIL PUFFS HERE AND THERE ARE FUNNY AND ITS A GOOD REVENGE TACTIC, BUT DONT BE BLOWING OVER LIL OLD LADIES WITH YOUR BIG DIESEL FARTS.

EASY there money bags. These are hard times. Not everyone has the cash to throwing down on a good smoking tuner. Every once in a while you'll catch a break on craigslist or something, but its not cheap to throw money at a tuner v.s. $20 on a switch, some wire, and a diode or two.
