New Spinny Thing (and other goodies)
Well some may know that I got my new turbo up last week.
Two Sundays ago we pulled my front diff out for the e locker and then started getting stuff out of the way for the new turbo.
The next night we decided to make things easier we were just going to pull the motor and within about 4 hours the entire driveline was sitting on the floor.
While it was out I decided to do headstuds from ARP. And .050 gaskets from SoCal.
I didnt find any cracked pistons so it should hold up for now.
In addition to the studs I also sent my CP3 FPR and rear cover to St Joseph Diesel to be modified.
We also added a BD Full bore manifold.
To make things easier I bought a PPE GT42 series install kit which i was not very satisfied with, but after a lot of customizing we got it to work.
Two Nights ago we dropped the motor back in and last night I finished hooking up the wiring harness and such and putting the trans, t case and such back in.
Tonite we have to put the radiator and intercooler back in, a few other little misc. things and then were hoping to fire it up. Ill post a vid up as soon as we do.
O ya, I suppose I should say what the turbo is. Its an S400SX3 BorgWarner. It has a 71mm inducer compressor wheel with ETT(Extendid tip technology), a 74mm exducer turbine wheel(83mm wheel overall) and a T4 turbine housing with an A/R ratio of 1.00.
It is essentially very similar to a GT4294 Garrett but not watercooled.
Once we fire it up we still have to create the intake. Its gonna be a tight fit but it will be plumbed out of 5" pipe with the Engineered diesel air shutoff sitting where clearance allows and a K&N filter on the end in my old K&N air box.
We are getting the truck ready for this years pulling season. My first pull is March 12th in cloverdale indiana. It is an indoor pull.
Other mods to the truck include an Eaton E Locker, Driveshaft loops, New Aluminum traction bars, new suspension stops, McFarlane built reciever hitch and pulling hitch, bump stops, and my indoor pulling stack. Theres many other little things too but these are the bulk of it.
New Pulling tires are Bridgestone Dueler A/T 695s. 315/70R17 mounted on my chrome H2s. These are for pulling only. They are a newer tire from Bridgestone and look like they should have the right amount of bite for our tracks.
We are going to fix the deer damage with a denali front clip. Also going to add a roll pan and paint the mirrors and handles to match as well as ripp of the chrome moulding strips.

actually our class is unlimited single and 3.0 twins. But yes it is a 2.8 truck. My first hook is March 12th in Cloverdale
After a few minor little things last night we got it running, however it sounded like a nitro methane powered dragster. My hopes werent up, called it a night and this morning I pulled the codes off of it. P0089 and P0090. Both are Fuel Pressure regulator codes.
Turns out I never hooked the wires up to the dang thing. I also remembered earlier that i never hooked up my MAF, low coolant sensor and the ac sensor deal that plugs into the shiny thing by the cab. These didnt change anything though.
Fired it up and it ran perfect, minus the coolant pissing everywhere. The one leak that sprayed coolant all over the windshield hood, motor and turbo was a bad o ring on the cab heater feed line. Replaced the o ring and no more leak. The other one was a cracked weld on the cab heater return line, So I ran down to my neighbors and TIG welded the crack. So no more leaks.
