Default How About With This???

I have a K&N intake with an AFE Filter, the intake tube is made of metal and gets real hot while hauling...
I was thinking of either wrapping it with header wrap, or doing the following that I saw on another truck...

the guy wrapped a similar intake tube with that plumbing insulation that has the aluminum outer layer on it, he wrapped it with two full layers, then put duct tape around that.... Once this was done he coated it good with spray on bed liner stuff to solidify and protect it.
He did all of this to reduce intake Temps, and claimed that he measured a big drop (like 100-150degrees) with the EGT's...

I have to admit, I actually was able to tell a BIG difference in how the intake felt to the touch after running hard, before you could hardly touch it, and now it is barely warm...

Any opinions???? Thanks

Chris, dropping ur IATemps are always a good idea. If your intake tube is that hot I would definately try wrapping it with header wrap or some other type of reflective heat resistant insulation for sure bud.

There are a few people that I've run into on other forums that have done this. They've even gone so far as wrapping all the CAC piping too. They claim that it makes a difference. I figure if you can get 50-100* drop for $75 and a couple hours work then it's worth it.

DO NOT wrap your intake with header pipe insulation. You will see your IAT go up and its already too high as it is.

What's everybody using then? I've read it called header wrap but that don't seem right. I know the purpose of header wrap is to keep the heat IN so I think you're right but what is everybody using?

with the insulating wrap? I would think this would help to cool EGT's??
is there a reason that the header wrap increases EGT's???
