My truck already meets 2010 emissions standards, at the expense of my fuel economy, and my patience with a perpetually clogging egr cooler, numerous thrown codes, ECM induced defueling, and a general anti-mod attitude from Chrysler. This in addition to it taking sometimes up to a month to get my truck in the shop because they have a waiting list.
One can only hope they will pull their heads out and get the bugs worked out. As much as I love my truck other than the above mentioned... I would have to think long and hard about buying another new one.

They failed to mention Caterpillar which will stop making truck engines. I wish Navistar and Cummins would quit too. I'm all for clean air and water. But with the 2007 emission standards the OTR trucks are already emitting cleaner air than they are taking in. Now with the 2010 standards we will see much higher operating costs for OTR trucks. They can only pass this cost on to the shipper who will pass the cost to the consumer. YOU and ME! and can anyone tell me what they have achieved? Made our economy worse, raised the demand for diesel which raises the price. My 05 Freightliner get much better fuel mileage than any 07 or 08. And I weigh less so can haul more. My exhaust is clean.
The same will be true in pickup trucks, they will weigh more due to the emissions equipment so can carry less, fuel mileage? laughable as long as your not buying the fuel.
Who the hell elected the EPA? And who gave them the power to regulate?
