Build The DieselBombers Drag Truck
Here is a hypothetical, DB was just given $50,000.00 to build the ultimate street legal race truck. We need the advice, guidance, knowledge and planning from our members.
SOOOOOOOOOOO.
We are calling all of you to build us this truck, remember it has to be street legal and we have a $50,000.00 budget.
We need to know everything down to the body, chassis and tires we are going to need to get. We have nothing to even start with.
Basically give us a blueprint for your ultimate race truck. Leave nothing out, make sure you are able to answer questions from other members if they come up because we are going to build this truck based on the consensus of our builder (members).
We also want to know what kind of number you expect this build to produce.
REMEMBER THIS IS A HYPOTHETICAL AND NOT REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN. Unless someone donates $50,000.00 or the parts described, which is highly unlikely.

buy a 94-98 rolling chassis 1500 dodge ram regular cab short bed. Buy a 98 12valve cummins motor. As for the motor, II dragon fly pump and injectors. 14mm head studs, fireringed head, lower compression pistons to deal with the massive amounts of boost that would be coming from a large single turbo plumbed straight w/o intercooler(gotta save weight) with enough nitrous to euthanize a small village. Back half the chassis, narrowed ford nine inch, with a quick change rearend (for the ability to change rear axle gears quick). Gut the cab, cage it, put in enough gauges to moniter everything. Do just enough to keep it street legal (horn, tail lights, headlights). Basically look at Wes's black truck Abby.

build a tube chassis and hang a fiberglass body on it with all the legal lights and stuff, i got the hookup on all the fabrication work, so you dont need to spend money on that, just parts, and i got the hookup on that so i can probably get some donated.......i even got a place to dyno tune it for free......along with a slew of other free services........just might need to put a few stickers on it from the place........and your gonna have to probably run it on biodiesel too

Start with something light: how about a 69 Chevy C10 Stepside? We could argue for years about what to use for a body. Pull the body off, box the frame back to about where it starts to pick up for the hump over the axle. From there, it needs to get narrowed down. 9" Ford about 3 feet wide with a fab-9 housing and 4 link suspention with adjustable coilovers. Up front a 6B Cummins 12 valve with a 215 pump (for streetability) with fly cut pistons, Piers or Scheid Cam, some serious head porting, an aftermarket exhaust manifold, with a modest set of twins hanging off. Remember, its street/strip, so you cant have a turbo that doesnt spool till you get to 2500RPM.
Then, mate the motor to a fully built GM Turbo 400 transmission with a Reverse Manual valve body with a GearVenders overdrive. Chrome-moly driveshaft out to the 9" Center (which will probally only need 3.73's or a mild gear like that) to a set of fat street slicks.
up front swap out the stock springs for air ride. That should hopefully hold up the weight of the big Cummins
Oh yeah, cant forget the full cage, including bars out the back of the cab to the crossmember that you narrowed at for extreme stiffness. Gut the interior and put an alluminum dash in, with a pair of racing buckets.
Thats what I would do
